hahahaha. Lola ikaw ba si lolaimbang? Masyado po kaung masungit :mrgreen:

@Khael, your formations are good, I think. Sinubukan mo ng iplay formations mo? Try to play them and you will see. I agree with lolana about the space in front, sayang lang, halatang exposed mga spies mo kung may space.

Wouldn't forcing yourself to adhere to a formation give you away?

And what's the point of not putting your pieces as far forward as possible?
Any space at the rear allows pieces to collapse backwards.

I could only think that there are only few kinds of formations and any others are variations of it:
Strong Flanks or Edges
One Side Strong
Strong Center
Evenly Scattered

I also think that clustering similar pieces together towards a side is not a very good idea
eg the Spies together, a cluster of Privates or the 5-Star General along with the 4-Star General
reason: effective coverage is limited and risk of losing both or all similar pieces together at once

I am not experienced at this game but this is what I could postulate at this moment.
Please feel free to discuss and refute.

@jonsmth

Why not?, is it not that in this game, manuevering is part of a strategy? Flexibility of strong pieces to manuever around critical/important squares is important. What if your 5 star is close to opponent's spy?, a space is necessary as exit square for the 5 star.

Any space at the rear allows pieces to collapse backwards.

Any? that is not always true. Why would it collapse?, it still depends on opponent's pieces locations and rank informations.

Another formations that can be classified are, strong front line, strong center line and strong back line, considering that initial positions have 3 rows occupied by pieces.
